Bathroom Remodeling Contractor in Greater Boston, MA
Bathrooms planned from the studs out.
Primary baths and larger bathroom remodels, from the plumbing and waterproofing to the tile and the vanity.
Waterproofing and venting
What goes behind the tile
Water and steam wear a bathroom out from behind the walls. We plan the waterproofing and the exhaust fan as carefully as the vanity you’ll see every day.
- A waterproofing membrane on the shower walls and the floor, under the tile
- An exhaust fan ducted to the outside, sized for the room
- Supply and drain lines to code, inspected while the walls are open
- Blocking in the walls for grab bars, glass and the vanity
Curbless showers and freestanding tubs
The floor is what makes a curbless shower work
With no curb to hold the water in, the shower floor has to sit lower than the rest of the room and slope to the drain. That means recessing it into the framing, or raising the rest of the bathroom floor. A freestanding tub needs its drain in the right spot and a floor strong enough to hold it full of water. We work out both with the designer early on.
Bathrooms in older houses
What opening an older bathroom can turn up
- Galvanized or cast iron pipe
- Venting too small for the room
- Old wiring behind the walls
- Paint from before 1978
In a house built before 1978, any work that disturbs painted surfaces has to follow lead‑safe practices. We write into the scope what happens if any of these turn up.
A smaller bathroom?
Get a second opinion on your bid
Already have a contractor lined up for a smaller bathroom? For $99, Stephen reads their proposal before you sign it. If the bathroom is part of a bigger renovation, we’ll plan it with the rest of the house.
Get a bid reviewed, $99How long will we be without the bathroom?
It depends on the scope. Before work starts, we give you a schedule that shows the day the bathroom goes out of service and the day it’s back.
How are the permits filed in my town?
We handle them, and in most towns around here that’s online now. Needham doesn’t accept paper applications at all. Newton uses its NewGov portal and Wellesley uses ViewPoint Cloud. Hopkinton moved residential building, plumbing and electrical permits online on September 1, 2026.
Can a bathroom go where there isn’t one now?
Usually, as long as a drain and a vent can reach it. For a new bathroom upstairs or in the basement, we work out where those lines can run, and design the room around them.
What does a bathroom remodel cost?
It depends on the size, what’s behind the walls and the finish level you choose. Once the design is done, you get a written price that lists the tile, fixtures and vanity.
